This Permitting and Compliance Coordinator will join our team in Kitimat to support the regulatory compliance and permitting activities for the construction, commissioning and initial start-up of a world-class liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility and export terminal. Job Description • Regulatory compliance and permitting activities will be performed in accordance with management plans, project procedures, contractual requirements and applicable laws. The individual will demonstrate personal accountability, effective communication and engagement, and support a culture of caring for people and the environment. • Principal job duties and responsibilities include: • Assist in the development and maintenance of the project compliance management system, including input of permit conditions, regulatory requirements and project commitments. • Assign tasks and verification controls to address each permit condition or requirement in the project compliance management system. • Develop and prepare applications for permits, amendments and renewals. • Obtain information, data and seek alignment with engineering disciplines, construction, subcontractors and consultants to support the preparation of permit applications. • Prepare and update packages to compile application, clarification, and approval information for permits, and coordinate transmittal to Client and subcontractors. • Coordinate responses to any comments or requests for supplemental information from governmental authorities on permit applications. • Support engagement with governmental authorities, indigenous groups, stakeholders and adjacent landowners whilst adhering to external relations requirements. • Coordinate and participate in site visits by governmental authorities, indigenous groups and stakeholders. • Review Construction Execution Plans and Environmental Work Plans to ensure regulatory compliance. • Perform periodic audits and inspections on site to ensure regulatory compliance. • Maintain the project's master permit register, permit status tracker and regulatory compliance / permitting action logs. • Support weekly and monthly reporting, including updates to dashboards and the permitting activities in the project schedule. • Prepare compliance reports or other documents as required to meet regulatory requirements. • Monitor any new legislation or regulatory changes that may have an impact on permits, engineering or construction activities and provide guidance to project management. • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines to support the project schedule. Rotation for local candidates: 5 days on 2 days off Rotation for non local: 14 days on 7 days off Basic Job Requirements • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and four (4) years of work-related experience. • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, subcontractors, governmental authorities, indigenous groups and stakeholders. • Work related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job. • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of acts, regulations and permitting requirements that are applicable in local municipalities, British Columbia and Canada. • May need to travel to attend to project related matters. • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner. • Flexibility to work at a remote project worksite to provide support during the construction, commissioning and initial start-up of projects would be beneficial. Other Job Requirements • Continue education and knowledge of industry-wide environmental technologies as well as new legislation and regulatory changes through continuing education, conferences, and/or periodicals, and continues to develop in-depth specialization. • Advanced computer and software skills to include the use of databases, spreadsheets and electronic presentations.
