Purpose and Accountabilities: The CHT Finance Analyst will focus on operational excellence in the delivery of the process. They will build a deep knowledge of the outputs required and ways of working to deliver these, along with the tools and systems that are an integral enabler of the process. They will work in collaboration with colleagues in R&A and their peers from other processes where operational excellence or data integrity impacts on the R&A delivery. The role requires an ability to deliver the appropriate metrics and drive interventions either directly or via timely escalation. Key Accountabilities: Understanding all Shell internal group reporting and analysis requirements for Holdings and Treasury entities whilst ensuring key controls and reconciliations are carried out as per the new timetable Responsible for preparing and completing the monthly/ quarterly Group Return close process. Provide support as required in the preparation of the Annual Statutory accounts and liaison with other Finance Functions e.g Tax, LSR Play an active role in ensuring integrity of MRD within the ERP system (SERP) and ensuring all reporting requirements are met. Assist with managing and responding to internal & external audit queries. Timely and effective responses to special data/project requests. Ensuring the creation, maintenance and update of process and procedures documentation. Processing the SERP and quantum Journals Payments including SERP and Manual Payment requests. Blackline Reconciliation and Analysis in activities performed in scope Dimensions: Stakeholder Management Playing a key role in the delivery of financial reporting for their area of accountability. The role requires high tolerance of shifting planning and business priorities while maintaining the day to day activities. This position has several spikes in workload during Quarter Close. The expectation is that we work as a team to complete the tasks and everyone supports everyone else. It will be essential to work closely with the legal entity controller and several senior stakeholders who might have different priorities. Adapt quickly to changing priorities whilst still delivering timely and accurate information despite the changing requirements and timelines. Requirements Basic knowledge of Accounting Standards and Accounting Strong Stakeholder Management skills working in virtual teams with different time zones /cultures and ability to adapt to business needs and respond to them swiftly Basic SAP working knowledge and exposure to Reporting tools will be an added advantage Communication and Interpersonal skills stakeholder relationships are critical to the success of this position. Willingness to work in Shift timings - 12-9pm and extended hours as Accounting cycles demand for few days every month/ quarter Effectively and promptly identifying and resolving any problems during month-end close, key to meeting closing schedule Company Description The aim of the Shell Business Operations, Chennai is to provide the Group with operational excellence through highlighting and utilizing process improvements and functional efficiencies as well as by leveraging economies of scale. Currently, the Chennai centre provides a wide range of finance, accounting and business services to Shell operating companies across several business sectors globally. Set up in September 2007, the Chennai centre has grown rapidly and now , in its fourth year of operations , it has crossed the 1600 staff mark. The centre is located in the RMZ Millennia Business Park, where the Shell campus is a LEED Platinum building with world class infrastructure. The business is expected to grow further over the next two years and infrastructural additions to support this have been planned. The main focus in Chennai is on Finance Operations which supports delivery of the global Finance functional plan. There is also a 'Downstream India' - Customer Services Team that handles lubricant depot ordering within the country. The Shell Business Operations (SBO Team) manages the centre facilities and supports business partners' operations on site.
