What's the role? The IT Advisory role provides support to the Gulf of Mexico IT Manager (ITM) in delivering bottom line value to the business through implementation of innovative, new IT solutions and harvesting existing IT assets to enable the achievement of the business strategy, value drivers and KPIs. The key focus areas of the role are: Relationship Management: Support the ITM to drive a One Team mindset; work closely with business stakeholders (below VP/GM level) to understand and influence how IT and the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico business can align strategic success goals, challenging the business to deliver value for IT dollars invested. Works with the natural team in IT and supports the ITM to ensure all are operating with a commercial mindset and driving measurable value. Business Process Domain: Understand the high level implementation of the Asset Management Standard(AMS) processes and their integration into Deepwater operations and production. Learn through partnership with business stakeholders the interlinked tasks, activities, and practices that fall under the specific components of AMS. And recognize the output and organizational goal that these interlinked processes produce to enable the Deepwater business to be a world class investment with a strong societal license to operate. Opportunity Framing: Leverage a structured process to properly understand and plan the maturation and execution of new opportunities being considered by the Gulf of Mexico Deepwater business. Partner with key stakeholders to develop a clear and common understanding of where the team wants to get to, where it is now, and the underpinning IT technologies that support both. Understand what processes and solutions are endorsed by the global portfolio to deliver GOM Deepwater business outcomes, and challenge when local business requirements cannot be met by the preferred solution. Align business and IT stakeholders behind the key drivers for project success while identifying, analysing, and mitigating the key risks that could impede this. Integrated Business and IT Strategy: Understand the business and IT strategy, recognize how IT is contributing to the GOM Deepwater business top and bottom line while utilizing the existing landscape and identify opportunities to grow and transform the business through the deployment of processes, data and technology solutions. Partners with business and IT to shape opportunities and align solutions with business strategies. Supports the GOM Deepwater ITM to capture and maintain the IT strategic response in the IT Strategic Plan. IT Portfolio Management: Supports the GOM Deepwater ITM with managing demand, capturing detailed business requirements for review and agreed business outcomes. Supports the ITM with the IT Strategic Plan for their business area, ensuring decisions consider the full lifecycle of the portfolio optimizing investments, operational costs, health and risks to drive business value. Change Management: Understands the process, tools and techniques to manage the people side of change to achieve required business outcomes. Incorporates organizational tools that can be utilized to help individuals make successful personal transitions resulting in the adoption and realization of change. Oversees the planning, managing, and reinforcement of change to effectively transition the GOM Deepwater business from the current state to desired future model. Value Generation: Provides support to the GOM Deepwater ITM to develop robust business cases in partnership with business stakeholders and other IT areas, capturing IT expenditures, business changes and business benefits incorporating IT performance metrics, measurements and benefits. The IT advisor effectively partners with the GOM Deepwater business stakeholders to understand in business terms how the opportunity will contribute to Shell's bottom-line in planned value. In the same respect the IT advisor keeps an open dialogue with the business to determine realized value during and post-implementation. Ensuring that IT can articulate the potential value as well as the value realized is key to establishing credibility with the business. Specific job profile characteristics for this role: Reports to DW GoM IT Manager. Responsible for Interface with DW GoM business stakeholders at different levels. Expected interface with Local Process Owners, Global and Local IT Managers, Support & Operations, Delivery, Strategy & Planning, Wells, Capital Projects and Exploration. Strongly challenges and supports value gathering & calculation, encouraging value realization and innovation thinking in the team. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills. Ability to communicate concisely and clearly. Lean Practitioner training and experience are an asset. Requirements What we need from you Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer. Bachelor's Degree related to Information Technology required. Minimum of three (3) years work experience in corporate IT. Upstream Business Knowledge. Strong Stakeholder Management. External lens on digital opportunities, market standards. Create clear documentation to communicate requirements and related information; keep updated to align with the solution over the project lifecycle. Interact with software suppliers, designers and developers to understand software limitations, deliver elements of system and database design, and ensure that business requirements and use cases are handled. Previous experience with Vendor Management is desired. Configure and document software and processes, using agreed standards and tools. Create and present compelling business cases to justify solution value and establish approval, funding and prioritization. Change Management skills: Engage business focal points, Subject Matter experts, vendors and IT internal teams, to make sure impacts in business processes and systems are clear and will be delivered as per plan. Knowledge/Previous Experience within Oil Industry, especially Upstream process areas (mainly Finance, Logistics, C&P and Material Management) is desired.
