S20EE : Electrical Engineering - General - Stonehouse - 3 to 13 months flexible duration For 6 or 12+ month placement: 2nd year students or higher For 3 month Summer placement: 3rd year students or higher Scope and Subject of the Opening You will be part of a team who are responsible for a particular product throughout its development cycle including concept, feasibility, development, testing, commercialization and sustaining. You will apply your engineering skills to develop, implement and test components for the operation and control of our complex electro-mechanical systems. Our tools are extremely complex as they might have to operate for periods in excess of 200 hours in extreme environments - high temperature (200 C), extreme pressure (30,000 Psi) and shocks (500 G's) - up to 30,000 ft from the rig, communicating with the surface through various methods. Within a multi-disciplinary team, you will collaborate with other experts (software engineers, mechanical engineers, physicists, designers, etc.) to design the system. You will also perform technical planning for system integration, test and validation, authoring of functional specifications, and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include designing complex electrical/electronic devices/assemblies, conducting both lab and /or field tests analysing test results & preparing technical reports. You will interface with the technical staff from other disciplines and field personnel from domestic and overseas Operations organizations. Schematic CAD and VHDL entry S20NM : Electrical Engineering - Factory Drilling Machine - 3 to 13 months flexible duration Scope and Subject of the Opening You will be part of a multi discipline team (Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware) in the Engineering department, developing a brand-new electrical and electronics system for downhole environment, merging two previously separated systems into one. A lot of new technologies need to be de-risked and a new system architecture needs to be developed for this new concept to become viable. As part of the team, you will be responsible for the de-risking of some elements of the new system electrical architecture, as well as looking at the technical feasibility of some advanced concepts. Responsibilities You will be integrated into the team and be assigned a mentor for the duration of your internship. You will be assigned tasks that you will be responsible for and you will present progress on these activities as part of the weekly team meeting. Depending on the duration of your internship, the focus of your tasks will cover some or all of the following: Actuator Control System - additional measurements development and packaging optimization Power architecture - system performance modelling Surveying module - new sensors performance and concepts validation Competencies Required skills: some or all of the following: Analogue/digital design Matlab/Simulink - simulation and data processing Embedded firmware development S20NG: Manufacturing Technology - Automated tests - Stonehouse - 6 to 13 months flexible duration Scope and Subject of the Opening You will be part of a team who are responsible for manufacturing and delivery of drilling & measurements tools and would collaborate on a regular basis with other teams such as Engineering and Software development. You will use your engineering skills to develop, validate, and implement automated test systems and software workflow for our products. Since our tools are extremely complex due to the nature of the environment they function in, the test equipment to test their functionality are bespoke and unconventional. With a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with other experts (software engineers, electrical engineers, etc) to design these systems. You will also perform planning for test system review, test commissioning, technical documentation, and contribute to the modernization of our manufacturing shop floor. Responsibilities Your tasks will include: Assessing the current manufacturing test systems and production requirements to define project requirements Come up with concepts, identify required vendors, and present the best solution for cost, robustness, and reliability Development, Validation, and Deployment of the systems on the manufacturing shop floor Development of software workflow for testing of our products Automation of manufacturing test systems includes learning about different type of equipment (power supplies, communication interface, current sources, etc), controlling them, and interfacing them with our products. Interest in other disciplines (software, electrical) S20AT : Electrical Engineering - Real Time Assurance- Stonehouse - 6 to 13 months flexible duration Scope and Subject of the Opening You will be part of a new product development team responsible for designing, producing and testing Drilling and Measurement equipment with a focus on real time communication to surface. You will be part of developing a new electro-mechanical system to improve the down-hole real-time communication to surface working at extreme conditions up to 20,000 psi and 150°C at severe shock (500 G's) and vibrations. Within a multi-disciplinary team, you will collaborate with other experts (software engineers, mechanical engineers, physicists, designers, etc.) to design the system. You will also perform technical planning for system integration, test and validation, design of test systems, and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. Responsibilities Your tasks will include: Design, develop and test PWA/PCBA/Test boxes as part of a small engineering team Use of electrical CAD system and work with ECAD designer to develop PWA/PCBA/Test boxes Follow up with sourcing team and supplier to build assemblies and source components Use of development board to verify design architecture/new functionality Work will involve design and testing circuit board and test boxes, and/or modification of existing setup to facilitate testing and verification (V&V) Support various tasks from lab testing to V&V testing Develop setup(s) to accelerate development cycle and V&V testing Competencies Required skill: Understanding of electronic design cycle and use of CAD tool (Altium/Cadence/Spice) Some knowledge of Analog, digital and power electronic Positive attitude & willingness to learn Curious Excellent at verbal and written communication (English) Skilled in teamwork, service oriented and quality minded. There will be an opportunity to use and learn various elements of analogue and digital electronics, as well as programming environments, as we build some novel sensors for demanding flow measurement applications.
