Key responsibilities

As part of the role, you will deliver a technical maintenance and development strategy to the vessels, business and people within the Scandinavia + Germany region that is sound and cost efficient, while keeping safety as a top priority. This includes among other things the improvement of vessel maintenance and repair, dockings, technical performance monitoring, procurement and the governing processes associated with those areas.

In addition, you will drive and improve the cluster P&L part which have technical interfaces in order to support the general business growth and development of the region through cost and process optimization.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
• Ensure cost leadership and technical ownership, process and systems optimization and delivery across the technical organization. Support the technical team of Superintendents and Repairmen to ensure fleet performance optimization.
• Drive cost awareness and 'TCO' of the technical function within the cluster, developing and enhancing tools to facilitate live expenditure dashboards and/or other real-time tools for cost management.
• Ensure adherence to the global docking process and in cooperation with the regional procurement team identify and execute in areas of CAPEX optimization.
• Prepare cluster technical RoFo (CAPEX and OPEX) for the Regional Technical Manager
• Ensure that adequate resources exist within the cluster, including recruitment, to handle all work such as planned maintenance, dry docking, new building and that technical project management capabilities are well established, supported and resourced.
• Visit all operations to ensure that the technical systems and processes are present and in effect, supporting the local teams to deliver quality to our customers
• Oversee the implementation and development of the maintenance and repair procedures with an aim of improving reliability, identifying trends and establishing root causes behind equipment failure.
• Support regional office with performance analyses, standardizing and improving maintenance and other procedures and documentation to align with Svitzer, Class and industry best practice and guidelines.
• Assist in the business development function by technically qualifying leads and ascertaining the cost impact elements of new business
• Deliver initiative and innovation through smarter, leaner ways of procuring goods and services and pushing those solutions out to the local operations within the cluster and in allignment / cooperation with procurement

We are looking for

Our ideal candidate has:
• Chief Engineer experience or Technical Superintendent experience with degree level education in technical marine/marine electrical discipline preferred
• 5 years of relevant experience within the Maritime Industry and in Technical Asset Management
• Formal Quality qualifications preferred
• PMP and/or Six Sigma qualification
• Fluency in both spoken and written English and Scandinavian language
• Knowledge of basic PMS systems and relevant functionality
• Knowledge of IT applications, MS Office (proficient user in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project)

To be successful, you need to demonstrate:
• Strong people, project and process management and an ability to influence across a broad and dynamic region, effecting positive change and results.
• Prior experience of technically managing tugboats or OSV/AHTS vessels will be given special preference.
• Experience in managing and motivating staff and international crews of varying capabilities and competence.
• Experience with implementing and maintaining OVMSA, ISM or a related quality discipline.
• Operating experience in higher rank marine environment.
