Key responsibilities

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for assuring safe and efficient traffic flow within the yard and provide proper dock set up by maintaining the transporting containers and trailers as instructed by the Operations team, in a professional manner. This may require transporting container and trailers within the facility's yard or over the road to and from local yards.

Key Responsibilities:
•Move trailers and containers around facility
•Maintains a daily movement log and PM inspections sheets
•Proficiently use yard management system
•Places a trailer stand under all 20 foot equipment to be worked at the dock
•Ensure that yard and related yard equipment is clean, orderly and in safe operating condition; inspects all empty equipment for cleanliness and for any damage; reporting any damages to supervisor
•Ensures that all loads are properly secured
•Maintains safety rules at all times
•Pick up and drop off trailers and containers from local yard
•Comply with DOT regulations
•Ensures all equipment doors are properly secured to the side of the equipment prior to movement
•Assist in monitoring FIFO (First in, First out) equipment in yard and report discrepancies to immediate supervisor
•Assist 3rd party carriers reposition equipment as necessary
•Ability to lift material weighing 40 pounds, occasionally weighing up to 75 pounds
•Performs job related duties as specified by management

We are looking for

Qualifications:
•Class A CDL
•Minimum 1-year DOT over the road driving experience or sufficient driving school training/certification
•Must Pass criminal history check
•Must have a clean driving record
•Must have DOT medical qualification and provide Medical Examiner registration number and agree to continued medical qualification
•Must pass DOT alcohol/drug screen and agree to continued DOT drug/alcohol testing
•Maintain compliance with DOT regulations
•Can demonstrate the ability to operate specified DOT vehicle and has not been disqualified to operate specified vehicle
•High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; not required
•Able to speak, read and write English
•Yard tractor operator certification and training
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to perform well with time-sensitive tasks; multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
•Ability to work nights, holidays and weekends is required. Overtime may be required.
