Projects & Technology (P&T) Finance Analyst position is responsible for providing proactive and effective support to the P&T- Systems, Projects and Planning Appraisal & Reporting (PAR). Primarily responsible for the finance functional support activities to PAR and technical support on P&T digitalization journey.
The Finance Analyst will handle a variety of financial/business activities related to Month-end close and reporting. This includes Cost and Revenue Accrual accounting, Monthly Business data Review, preparation of Monthly MI reports and adhoc support.
The Analyst is also responsible for the technical support of the P&T systems such as Run and maintenance PT Insights, PT Plan, Workday, SAP HANA and technical system implementation. The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge and expertise to perform his work independently with minimal supervision. The Analyst must possess strong technical skills, analytical and problem-solving skills as well as strong communication skills and be capable of developing effective relationships with PAR/Controllers team and other relevant stakeholders.
Functional ◦Responsible for Month end close activities such as preparation and posting of cost and revenue accruals and ensure compliance with relevant accounting controls ◦Support on 1st level financial analysis and preparation of MI reports (Manual) ◦Adhoc support on requests, reporting, deeper financial analysis, data integrity reviews etc.
Technical ◦Responsible for run and maintenance of PT Insights, PT Plan and other systems ◦Support on new requests - coordinate and communicate with the Technical teams and users on the specifications of systems, outcomes of the testing etc. ◦Designing new reports in PT Plan, PT Insights and other systems, as required ◦Designing the flow diagrams, Testing of the systems and process flow documentation ◦In-depth understanding (functional capability) and hands on experience in PT Plan, PT Insights, SERP, Shell People, Business Objects, IQN and other technical systems ◦Knowledge in PowerBI and Alteryx is added advantage. Stakeholder Management • Proactively manages relationship with the relevant stakeholders (PAR, Controllers and Technical teams) as required Process Improvements ◦Support on reduction in manual journals and manual reports (self-initiative is expected to deliver operational excellence) ◦Proactively identify the opportunities for automation of reports
5 - 8 years of experience in various financial/accounting positions. • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. • Hands on experience in Accounting and Reporting, MI and accounting controls • Exposure to Planning and latest estimates is desired • Expert knowledge in Revenue Accounting process, accrual accounting for cost & billable expenses and capex accounting • Analytical skills and logical thinking are desired • Quick learning abilities in understanding and synthesize the user requests
• Experience in working on SAP (ERP), Business Objects, Power BI, PT Plan (Anaplan), Share Point, Engagement Creation tools including master reference data (MRD) maintenance • Advanced skills or adequate knowledge & Understanding in Power BI, coding/design, Dax language and Alteryx is desired • Ensure adequate knowledge and understanding of the Anaplan, Power BI, Workday, Sharepoint etc
The aim of the Shell Business Operations, Chennai is to provide the Group with operational excellence through highlighting and utilizing process improvements and functional efficiencies as well as by leveraging economies of scale. Currently, the Chennai centre provides a wide range of finance, accounting and business services to Shell operating companies across several business sectors globally.
Set up in September 2007, the Chennai centre has grown rapidly and now , in its fourth year of operations , it has crossed the 1600 staff mark. The centre is located in the RMZ Millennia Business Park, where the Shell campus is a LEED Platinum building with world class infrastructure. The business is expected to grow further over the next two years and infrastructural additions to support this have been planned.
The main focus in Chennai is on Finance Operations which supports delivery of the global Finance functional plan. There is also a 'Downstream India' - Customer Services Team that handles lubricant depot ordering within the country. The Shell Business Operations (SBO Team) manages the centre facilities and supports business partners' operations on site. There is a strong focus at SBO on safety & well being of staff and on its three core values: Compliance, Intervention & Respect.
