Scope of ResponsibilitiesSupervise and work with a team of stress engineers to
carry out Stress and Pipe Supporting activities for FEED, Proposal or Detailed
Engineering work in compliance with Tender Documents/ Project Specifications/
Engineering Drawings/ Data Sheets/ Internal Quality Management System (QMS) and
within budgeted man-hour and project schedules adhering to Petrofac's core
Preparation of Stress Design
Basis, Support Standard, Job Notes, various Formats (stress report, IDIT,
calculation sheets, SPS etc.) and other relevant documents.
Preparation of Caesar
configuration file, applicable load cases, material data base etc. (if not
available in Caesar) as per project requirement.
Perform piping flexibility
analysis (Static, Dynamic, Wind, Seismic) for high critical piping systems
(like Centrifugal and Reciprocating Pumps, Turbine, Centrifugal and
reciprocating Compressors, Blowers, Columns, Heaters, re-boilers, Air coolers,
Plate fin Exchangers, Flare Stack, Knockout Drum, Tanks, Cooling Tower,
Silencers, Jacketed lines, Cryogenic lines, lines having Thermal Bowing/
expansion joints/ snubbers etc.).
Analysis of A/G and Underground
Perform Finite Element Analysis
(FEA) using Nozzle Pro.
Design of expansion loop on pipe
rack and sleepers.
Perform various calculations like
WRC 107 / 297, NEMA SM23, API 617, SIF, strength calculation of simple
supporting arrangements like cantilever, Tee post, lug etc.
Preparation of data sheets/ MR/
TQ/ TBE/ PR for Spring, Strut, Rod hanger, Expansion joints, Snubbers,
Boughtout supports etc.
Preparation of technical inquiry
requests (Inquiry Requisitions) to vendors, participate in the technical
evaluation of vendor bid offers. Perform Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE),
review vendor drawings and documents. Review design calculations; ensure vendor
equipment specifications meet with client equipment specifications and within
budgeted costs. Administer the preparation of Purchase Requisitions for the
procurement of piping materials. Update
TDR progress reports in coordination with Projects.
Review of Stress Critical Line
List, Stress reports, SPS, stress analysis performed by other stress engineers,
IDIT/ IDC, various calculations, support MTO, or as requested by stress lead.
Preparation of comment resolution
sheets and providing technical notes/ justification for specific issues.
Mentoring and provide periodic
training sessions as per Training calendar and job requirement.
Allocate appropriate man power
for the preparation of proposals and the performance of detailed engineering on
Review the ITB (Invitation to
Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage, issue inquiry requisitions,
review techno-commercial vendor offers, material and man-hour estimates.
Review contract requirements for
project execution, organize the preparation of the Technical Document Register
(TDR), identify requirements and scope of work Review specifications, Process
Data Sheets (PDS), Piping Material Specifications (PMS), Piping &
Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's), Plot plans, General Arrangement (GA)
drawings. Review Philosophies and other relevant documents. Establish contract
review criteria, identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from
original proposal through the technical queries to projects/client.
Verify scope of work, budgeted
man hours, budgeted quantities, total of deliverables, format of delivery, time
schedules, plant layout, stress analysis, isometrics, bill of materials and
Monitor Man-hour requirements
during project execution; identify variations between Contract and proposal.
Plan/ Schedule task assignments, establish target completion dates, ensure
target dates are achieved. Maintain project schedules; ensure allotted man
hours, deadlines and cost requirements are adhered to. Recommend cost effective
measures to reduce overall package costs. Raise ECNs for change in scope in
consultation with PEM.
Apportion work among engineering
staff according to specialized skills. Supervise the preparation of stress
analysis reports in CAESAR II software and 3D modeling work, ensure that
isometrics are updated as required. Monitor the identification of stress
factors and layout feasibility, resolve design irregularities. Provide stress
and piping loads to civil engineering group, coordinate on technical issues as

(MTO) activities, identify irregularities, discrepancies and shortfalls, and
take corrective action as required.
Participate in project review
meetings; ensure progress of project in accordance with schedule, allotted
man-hours and budgeted costs. Coordinate with projects and planning departments
on schedule related issues. Coordinate with other VECs and JVs as and when
If required, participate in the
3D Model Reviews with Client and ensure a timely close out of model review
Monitor the preparation of the,
IFA's "Issued for Approval" and IFC's, "Issued for Construction" documents
(like support standard, stress design basis, SPS, support material requirement
Supervise the issuance of
engineering deliverables. i.e. isometrics to site for construction, interface
and provide clarification and technical support to construction and
commissioning personnel. Administer the
preparation of the final "As Built" documents.
Provide and attend training,
acquire knowledge, understanding and application of Company's procedures,
quality standards and international codes.
Ensure compliance with Company's
procedures and quality standards. Coordinate Internal and Client audit
requests; facilitate audit/ gate review procedures of engineering systems
within the department.
Participate in internal staff
Evaluate available resources
including computers, software licenses and other specialized software
Acquire knowledge of Oil &
Gas industry software.
Provide innovative ideas,
encourage automation/ digitalization, work for the development of department/
Provide support and assistance to
direct supervisor on technical and non-technical issues. Highlight technical issues, if any.
Regularly populate/ update/
review Hold register, Need list, area of concerns, action tracker register,
line of sight (LOS), lessons learnt (LL) etc.
Perform related duties as and
when directed by Direct Supervisor/ Discipline head.
Minimum Job RequirementBachelor's
Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 to 12 years of refinery /
petrochemical experience preferably from a background in working for
consultancy organizations in the EPC of the Oil and Gas Industry
