Manager Data Visualization is a key member of Information Data & Analytics Capability Center in IT Engineering group in Shell IT function. This leader is responsible for leading a team of Visualization & Design experts who present data in a graphical or pictorial format to help people understand its significance and to identify or uncover patterns, correlations and trends etc. that are likely to go unnoticed in text-based data. Understands the business strategy and business context to co-define with the business the key performance indicators.
Lead a team of experts who design and are passionate for creating meaningful data visualizations and memorable user experiences. It is important to think strategically and communicate data-driven insights by transforming science and numbers into easily understandable visualization. The role will involve working closely with our key stakeholders in both business and IT to help tell stories with data and visualize insights in a compelling and insightful way that enables business decision-making. While the main focus of the role is data visualization, a solid understanding of core graphic design principles including visual hierarchy, colour theory, layouts & grids and typography is an advantage.
Lead a team of experts that design, build and implement data visualization solutions and strategies
Communicate with key stakeholders to promote visualization designs and solutions.
Identify the required scale of the resources, securing them and assigning them to individual projects, ensuring our best resources work on our most
challenging projects. It is expected active recruitment of talent is needed as well. Key interface towards the ITM's / Program Managers within all lines of business to meet the demands
Prioritize and allocate resources. Manage utilization.
Create the optimum mix of internal and external resources and the desired geographical balance between the IT Hubs and other business proximate locations.
Define and maintain standards, methodologies, tools and knowledge repositories along with contributing to functional excellence in terms of standards, methods and tools.
Perform all aspects of staff management Appraisals, staff development plans , management of succession talent pipeline to ensure the next generation of leaders are being identified, coached and mentored - and all other associated line management responsibilities
Skills & Requirements: Core Skills
Build strong partnership and delivery model structure with each of the businesses.
Proven ability to handle broad set of IT Delivery, Support, Architecture and Strategy leaders and stakeholders.
Professional and personal development of the Shell staff in the CCM is key. This requires a strong visible leader who can inspire the staff and the broader team.
Right size the resourcing in the CCM with the core roles/skills needed, the project demand and operational/improve demand.
Strong awareness and experience in managing the risks around complex change projects (e.g.integration, data, change)
Ability to lead and drive business simplification journeys - in partnership with the business interface team
Execute the Market Standard Unless strategy for the portfolio
Ability to manage complex integration scenarios and interfaces between on premise and cloud systems - also with legacy systems
Experience with design & prototyping tool implementations on complex projects.
Experience in implementing complex projects with Data visualization tools like Spotfire, SAC, PowerBI including Labels, Charts, Schemas, understanding of Heat Map, Dendograms.
Has experience interfacing the visualizations tools with many source systems on prem, in the cloud and various SaaS platforms.
Is familiar with user-centered design and testing methodologies, subsystems, and usability and accessibility concerns.
Job Experience Requirements:
Extensive experience managing visualization design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
Experience with working in Agile projects.
Experience with Continuous Improvement ways of working.
Experience in running ideation sessions with project stakeholders and users, translating complex ideas into visualisations even at a rough early stage
