Job Description

Position Summary

Contingent upon Oceaneering being awarded an anticipated contract we will have the need for an Engineer IV who will report to the Chief Engineer or Design Engineering Mgr. To provide engineering support of Amphibious Surface Ship Steam Propulsion Plant main steam and auxiliary steam system components, and steam boiler appurtenances, as well as, advising on the maintenance and repair of different components/systems. The above is not all-inclusive and other tasks that will be assigned dependent on the Program's needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Independently performs difficult engineering tasks to completion that may include a variety of complex features, conflicting design requirements, unusual materials requirements, and the need to coordinate the work of others.
  • Provide expert advice on Auxiliaries Systems maintenance and repair, as well as Amphibious Assault Systems management, repair, and maintenance .
  • Provide engineering support for shipboard Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Systems, including fluid and piping systems, auxiliary systems, hydraulic systems, material handling, and ventilation.
  • Apply engineering principles to support systems engineering design, and test and integration engineering for various HM&E systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot various HM&E equipment and systems, aid in the development of testing and evaluation procedures and support refurbishment and installation activities
  • Review specifications, technical manuals, and other technical documentation and provide technical recommendations.
  • Assist other engineers in systems engineering tasks, and project management tasks for assigned projects.
  • Provide direct support to the assigned program manager.
  • Provide supporting technical and logistics documentation for improvements and performance requirements.
  • Resolve all equipment and systems issues with the appropriate Subject Matter Expert(s)
  • Facilitate effective government and industry team relationships.
  • Provide sound and independent judgement that follows company policies and procedures while managing projects/contracts. Resolve issues, through direct interaction with department managers and supervisors, which may jeopardize product quality, delivery schedules or costs.
  • Maintains a positive work environment through positive actions to affect morale. Adherence to all federal, state, local and employment laws, and company regulations and policies.
  • The Engineer IV may perform other special projects or duties as required to support business needs.


Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Experience:
  • Working knowledge of Amphibious Surface Ship Steam Propulsion Plant main steam and auxiliary steam system components, and steam boiler appurtenances and associated equipment and systems.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the design, testing, installation, maintenance and alteration of Naval Ship HM&E systems.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of specialized experience years specialized experience performing engineering design and installation drawings for U.S. Navy Amphibious Ship Steam Propulsion Plants, associated equipment, piping and systems.
  • Experience and working knowledge required in US Navy technical procedures and repair procedures for steam system components.
  • Knowledge of US Navy Technical documents, development and management.
  • Technical knowledge and operational experience in all aspects of maintenance of U.S. Navy ships, submarines, military watercraft and unmanned vehicles.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated interpersonal skills with personnel and customers.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Ocean or Nuclear) or Naval Architecture from accredited college or university; Master's Degree in related field preferred.

Citizenship:

Working Conditions
  • This position is considered PRODUCTION/OUTDOOR WORK which is characterized as follows.
  • The shipyard/base/manufacturing work environment; the site may contain mobility barriers with uneven ground level and obstructed pathways. Climatic and environmental conditions at the job site will be indoor/outdoor climate with various temperatures and noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, and etc.
