We are looking for a Assistant Operations Manager to join our North America WnD team. This position will be based in South Gate, CA.

Key responsibilities

The Assistant Manager is responsible for operations of an assigned area (i.e.: dock area) within the facility. This includes being accountable for the business operations, establishment of production standards and operations/services provided within the assigned area. This position is also responsible for managing, evaluating and mentoring Supervisors and Associates. Accurate and timely tracking of internal and external reports including, but not limited to, safety, production, resource allocation, cost and load/unload accuracy is part of the required key performance indicators. The ability to solve problems and articulate issues with both managers and direct reports is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

•Oversee and direct the dock operations to achieve the highest level of safety, productivity, and customer service with a focus constantly on cost and efficient use of labor
•Constant focus on the cost of operational labor and ensure that man hours are held to a minimum
•Ensure safety policies and practices are being adhered to and are fundamental to the Company culture
•Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, analyze production errors and recommend/implement corrective action for assigned areas
•Provide creative and innovative ideas to improve operational productivity while maintaining a safe work environment
•Participate and/or represent DDSI within various operations, safety , and labor related meetings
•Ensure that reports, billing and labor payroll are timely and accurate
•Responsible for safe and efficient use of facility equipment
•Constant focus on the cost of operational labor and ensure that man hours are held to a minimum
•Effectively communicate with other departments and shifts to ensure the efficiency of the dock as a whole
•Have constant dialog with the Supervisors and Managers on daily operational issues and events, in their absence report the same information to the Operations Manager
•Meet customer and Company key performance metrics, goals and objectives
•Participate with the training of the other managers
•Foster team environment within the facility and demonstrate strong leadership skills
•Manage, evaluate and mentor Supervisors
•Supports the commitment to the Company's Core Values
•Coordinate with Managers and Human Resources to ensure adherence to Company policies and procedures
•Perform other job related duties as required

We are looking for

Education and Experience:
•High school diploma/GED; College degree preferred
•2+ years supervisory or management experience
•Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
•Must be able and have flexibility to work nights, holidays, and weekends
•At times may be required significantly extended shift hours based on business need
•Must be able to lift up to 50lbs

Preferred Qualifications: (Nice to have)

•1+ year 3PL (Third party logistics) experience
