Location: Singapore

The primary purpose of this role is, working closely with Sales and Opportunity Management, to develop solutions on the basis of modules that address the customer's requirements with cost-effective, high quality logistics solutions which can be effectively implemented and executed.

An effective solution design process, as executed within the Centre of Excellence, will allow Maersk to:
Improve sales effectiveness:
- opportunities per sales person, qualification, speed of response, win-rate, conversion

Improved execution:
- faster implementation, less customisation, more reliable and scalable, better defined scope

Higher profitability:
- understanding costs, scope management, less costly mishaps

In the event customisation beyond configuration is required, the Solution Engineer coordinates with Product Management and IT to include the requested capabilities - if approved based on a diligent financial assessment.

Key responsibilities

The Solution Engineer has accountabilities and responsibilities in two main areas, namely Solution Specific Tasks and Process Specific Tasks.

Solution Specific Tasks:
- Develop and maintain solution concepts
- Interpret and analyse gathered customer requirements and translate into a solution proposal
- Configure Solution Building blocks - maximise use of existing solutions already successfully operated
- Quantify the solution resource and implementation requirements e.g. FTE's, costs, EDI development, facilities, capabilities, equipment/services
- Provide cost analysis and cost projection
- Suggest more efficient alternative(s) to address customer challenges
- Identify and analyse potential configuration gaps
- Work with Product/IT to develop alternative Solutions in case of capability gaps - where applicable
- Participate in customer meetings - if needed
- Outline key risks and potential mitigation options where identified / relevant
- Clearly outline solutions in appropriate formats for presentation to customers and hand-over to the implementation team

Process Specific Tasks:
- Act as custodian of sustainable operational quality and efficiency
- Project manage the solution design process to ensure on-time delivery to the client in close collaboration with the Opportunity Manager
- Coordinate with other Centres of Excellence, Centre and Regional Operations, Implementation, IT, Finance, Legal, Vertical Heads and other SME's as required
- Channel requests for re-engineering, re-development of Solution Building Blocks to CEN product management when required
- Channel ideas for product innovation to Center Innovation and Product management functions
- Ensure codification of learning points
- Compare results with qualification sheet to asses qualification accuracy and drive improvements

We are looking for

- 5+ years of experience in the analysis, design or operations of International supply chains
- Project management experience
- Minimum of 2 years direct experience in one or more of our core industry verticals (Retail, Lifestyle, FMCG, Technology, Chemical)

Skills required:
- Analytical with proficiency in translating complex requirements into tangible solutions
- Excellent listener with effective interpersonal and communication skills
- In-depth understanding of End-to-end International logistics concepts
- Strong financial acumen
- Strong organisational, planning, process & project management skills
- Effective networker and collaborator (preferably with proven success in a matrix setup)
- Advanced MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint
- Written & spoken English
